Richard W. "Pinky" Torrey, 82, of 673 Derrick Road, Bradford, formerly of Limestone, N.Y., passed away Friday (Jan. 11, 2013) with his loving family at his side.

Born June 20, 1930, in Olean, N.Y., he was the son of the late Carroll and Audrey Petty Torrey. Richard married his devoted wife, Lettie M. Bedell Torrey, on Aug. 16, 1997, at the First Presbyterian Church in Bradford.
Mr. Torrey was a 1947 graduate of Allegany (N.Y.) High School. He worked at Dresser Manufacturing in Bradford for several years before founding R.W. Torrey Contracting, which he ran for more than 40 years, retiring in 1990.
He was a member of the Bradford Township Lions Club serving as president in 1981-82. He received the Lions International Melvin Jones Fellowship Award. He was a member of the Custer City Men's Club and was active with the Penn Brad Oil Museum, enjoying the Fire Side Pumpers' breakfasts.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Thomas C. (Martha) Torrey of Limestone; three daughters, Susan Torrey, Shelley Campbell and Brenda Torrey; two stepdaughters, Jennifer (John) Robinson of Indiana and Nina Belleville of Allegany; a sister, Nancy Hart of California; eight grandchildren whom he loved deeply, Jessica, Jaclyn, Kimberly, Tessa, Sarah, Katie, Rachel and Johnny; two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Mr. Torrey was predeceased by his parents; one son, James; and a sister, Gloria Torrey.
Family will be receiving friends from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday in the Hollenbeck-Cahill Funeral Homes Inc., East Main Street, where funeral and committal services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday with the Rev. W. LeRoy Beckes, pastor of the First Presbyterian Church, officiating. Burial will be in McKean Memorial Park, Lafayette. The Bradford Township Lions Club will have a prayer service at 7:30 p.m. Friday in the funeral home.
