KANE - Robert L. Gerhart, 84, formerly of 525 Greeves St., Kane, died early Sunday morning (Nov. 9, 2014) at The Lutheran Home at Kane, where he resided.

Born March 24, 1930, in Kane, he was the son of the late Louis and Sara Heasley Gerhart. On June 8, 1957, in Kane, he married Edythe Swedenjelm, who survives.
Mr. Gerhart worked in the paint line at Stackpole Corp. in Kane for many years.
He was a C.B. radio enthusiast, going by the handle "Ringo," and he enjoyed drawing and woodworking. He was also a music aficionado, with The Beatles being his favorite.
Surviving, in addition to his wife "Edie," are a daughter, Nancy Blankenship of Kane; two sisters, Pearl "Sissy" Benson and Janie Read, both of Kane; two brothers, John Gerhart in California and Francis "Manny" Gerhart of Kane; grandchildren, Jennifer Blankenship, Stephanie Wormsley, Amanda Blankenship and Chelle Blankenship; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers; and two sisters.
Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Ronald McDonald II Funeral Home Inc. in Kane, where a service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday with the Rev. William LaVelle, pastor of the First United Methodist Church of Kane, and the Rev. W. Craig Smith, pastor of the Mount Jewett-Hazel Hurst Methodist Churches, co-officiating. Interment will be in Mount Tabor Cemetery following cremation.
