Born on Sept. 9, 1949, in Cuba, he was a son of William T. and Margaret M. Roberts Lester.
Bob was a graduate of Cuba Central School, Class of 1968. He then graduated with a degree in electrical engineering from Alfred College.
He was employed by the Cuba Rushford Central School as a bus driver for 35 plus years, retiring in 2011. He also was a self-employed electrician.
Bob was a 40-plus year member of the Cuba Fire Department, a long-time member of the Allegany County Fire Service and an Allegany County fire investigator commonly known as FI-5 for many years. He also attended the Christ Episcopal Church in his younger years.
He enjoyed the time he spent with the Monday Night Card Club, NASCAR racing and attending his yearly race in Michigan with Bob Clayson, Kim Campbell and Charles and Diane Antes. He also liked driving around the back-country roads and going to the casino.
