KANE - Roberta Sankner, 86, formerly of Bradford and Kane, passed away Thursday (March 7, 2015) at the Fairfax Nursing Center in Fairfax, Va.
Born Sept. 29,1928, in Warren, she was a daughter of the late Charles and Doris McIntyre Cuthbertson.
Mrs. Sankner had been a teacher at Floyd C. Fretz Middle School and continued her career at Bradford Area High School, where she served as the head of the mathematics department for many years. While in Bradford, she had coached the girls' golf team. She was a member of the Kane Country Club.
Surviving are a son, Craig (Tammy) Sankner of Fairfax; two granddaughters, Laura Sankner of Front Royal, Va., and Tara Sankner of Fairfax; a great-granddaughter, Elyssa Armel of Front Royal; two great-grandsons, Donald Armel and Dylan Curtis-Sankner, both of Front Royal; and a sister, Sandra (Galen) Mitchell of Franktown, Colo.
The family will be receiving friends from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday at the Cummings Funeral Home Inc. A luncheon will follow at Szymanski's Restaurant in Kane. Burial will be in Tidioute Cemetery.
The Cummings Funeral Home Inc. is in charge of arrangements.
