Rudolph J. "Rudy" Pretak, 88, of 621 Horner Road, Wilcox, died Friday morning (Feb. 28, 2014) at Penn Highlands Elk, St. Marys, following a brief illness.
On Feb. 18, 1950 in Holy Rosary Church, he married Mae E. Maiers of Johnsonburg, who died Jan. 8, 2000.
He was a World War II Navy Veteran, serving in the Pacific as a Carpenter's Mate with the 134th Naval Construction Battalion, where he received the Pacific Theater Ribbon with one star, the American Theater Ribbon, the World War II Victory Medal and the Philippine Liberation Ribbon with One Star.
He is survived by two sons, John (Anita) Pretak of Wilcox and Roger (Tracie) Pretak of Wilcox; six grandchildren, John J. Pretak, Stacy R. Cozad and Buffy, Justin, Caitlyn and Bailey Pretak; six great-grandchildren, Dayanna, Vladimyr and Janessa Pretak and Rykki, Lexi and Karli Tucker; two stepgreat-grandchildren, Nathan Cozad and Sebastian McKown; a sister, Agnes Whipple of Erie; and nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Rudolph J. Pretak will be conducted at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Anne's Church in Wilcox with the Rev. David J. Wilson, pastor, officiating. Interment will be at Holy Cross Cemetery, Rasselas.
Friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the Anthony F. Ferragine Funeral Home, 401 Chestnut St., Johnsonburg.
Military honors will be accorded by the Wilcox-Johnsonburg Servicemen's Detail. Detail members are asked to assemble at the funeral home at 9 a.m. Tuesday.
