Russell G. Even, 68, a loving son, brother and uncle, of 9 Parkway Lane, Bradford, passed away Monday (March 4, 2013) at The Pavilion at Bradford Regional Medical Center.

Born April 10, 1944, in Philadelphia, he was the son of Sarah Winter Even and the late Russell I. Even.
He was a 1962 graduate of Frankford High School in Philadelphia. He served in the U.S. Army at the Pentagon during the Vietnam War between 1967 and 1969.
Mr. Even attended Drexel University and received a bachelor of science degree in electrical engineering in 1972, and later attended Temple University, where he received his master's degree in computer science in 1992. He had worked for Bell Labs in New Jersey and then for Verizon in Philadelphia until his retirement.
He was an avid bridge player, playing in both Olean, N.Y., and Bradford. He enjoyed fishing off of Cape May, N.J., traveling to Maine and Alaska on fishing trips and attending concerts of the Buffalo (N.Y.) Philharmonic Orchestra. Over the last few years, he was frequently seen walking his dog "Rollo" in his neighborhood and at Willow Bay. He was an 11-year member of the American Legion Bradford Post 108.
Surviving, in addition to his mother Sarah of Chapel Ridge, is one sister, Diane (Philip) Winger, one niece, Ellen Winger; and one nephew, Daniel Winger, all of Limestone, N.Y.
At the family's request, there will be no visitation. Private services and burial will be in Arlington National Cemetery. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Hollenbeck-Cahill Funeral Homes Inc.
