KANE - Russell L. Luck, 95, of 628 Greeves St., Kane, died Monday morning (Nov. 28, 2016) at his home.
Born Oct. 10, 1921, in Kane, he was the son of Bernard and Ellen Peterson Luck. On Sept. 25, 1948, in Kane, he married Grace Cartwright, who survives.
Russell served in the U.S. Navy during World War II in Puerto Rico. He then worked at Bovaird and Seyfang, and for many years for the Borough of Kane in maintenance and the streets department, from which he retired.
He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Kane, and had belonged to the BPO Elks #329 in Kane, and, an avid golfer, the Kane Country Club. One of his proudest accomplishments was having written a book on his family's history, including genealogy, anecdotes, special events and current events of the times.
Surviving are a daughter, Margaret "Peggy" Luck of Kane; a son, Brian (Susan) Luck of Kane; a brother, Bernard Luck of Fort Collins, Colo.; grandchildren, Jordan and Alex Delia and Jimmy and Brian Wolfgang; and great-granddaughters, Leah and Lauren Wolfgang.
He was preceded in death, besides his parents, by brothers, Robert and John Luck; and sisters, Joyce Cima and on Nov. 21, Mary Ellen Peterson.
A private viewing and service will be held at the Ronald McDonald II Funeral Home Inc. with the Revs. Milton Jones and Jan Reynolds co-officiating. Interment will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery following cremation.
