KANE - Ruth C. Quist, 94, a long-time resident of Mount Jewett, died Friday morning (Feb. 13, 2015) at St. Martha's Manor in Downingtown, near her daughter and her family.

Born March 6, 1920, in Marvindale, she was the daughter of Elof and Eva Herron Carlson. On Feb. 16, 1942, she married Harold E. Quist, who died in 1985.
Mrs. Quist, along with her husband, owned and operated Quisty's in Mount Jewett for 30 years, with her retirement in 2000. Both had many friends in the community.
Ruth was a member of the American Legion Women's Auxiliary in Mount Jewett.
She will be sadly missed by her daughter, Joan Q. (Scott) Overdorf of Phoenixville; a brother, Earl Carlson of Lewis Run; a granddaughter, Gwynne (Paul) Sweatlock of Coatsville; great-grandchildren, Meredith and Jack Sweatlock; plus several nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death, in addition to her husband and parents, are sisters, Clara Carlson, Marjorie Spadafore and June McDowell; and a brother, Edward Carlson.
Friends may call at the Ronald McDonald II Funeral Home Inc. in Kane, today from 10:30 to 11 a.m., at which time a service will be held there with the Rev. V. Theodore Benson officiating. Interment will follow in Nebo Cemetery, Mount Jewett.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Nebo Chapel Memorial Fund, c/o St. Matthew Lutheran Church, Mount Jewett.
