PORT ALLEGANY - Sarah I. Laktash, 89, of Arnold Avenue, passed away Tuesday (Jan. 14, 2014) at Lakeview Nursing Home following a brief illness.

Born April 1, 1924, in Herbert, Pa., she was a daughter of John W. and Elizabeth Sanders Bloom. On Nov. 29, 1941, in Allegany County, Md., she married Anthony "Tony" Laktash Sr., who passed away Sept. 23, 1976.
Sarah spent her life as a homemaker and had resided in Port Allegany for the last 10 years.
Mrs. Laktash was a past member of the Brownsville Allegany Wesleyan Methodist Church, where she was a past lay minister and Sunday school teacher. She also attended the Austin Free Methodist Church and the Port Allegany Senior Center. She loved reading and studying her Bible as well as cooking and canning.
Surviving are four sons, Anthony (Roberta) Laktash Jr. of Eldred, John Laktash of Perrysburg, N.Y., Larry (Deborah) Laktash of Smethport, and Rev. Roger (Susanne) Laktash of Port Allegany; seven grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren; as well as many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by two brothers and nine sisters.
Friends may call from 2 to 5 p.m. Thursday at the Frame Funeral Home in Eldred. Visitation will also be held Friday at the Brownsville Allegany Wesleyan Methodist Church in Grindstone, Pa., 15442, from 10 a.m. to noon, at which time funeral services will be held with the Rev. Edward Truitt, pastor, officiating. Burial will follow in Lafayette Memorial Park, Brier Hill.
