Shane D. Gardner, 65, of Caledonia, N.Y., and Limestone, N.Y., passed away on Monday (Oct. 29, 2012) at Bradford Regional Medical Center.

He was born on July 15, 1947, in Bradford, the only child of Darold L. and Iris Jarret Gardner. On Oct. 26, 1974, in St. Bernard Catholic Church, he married Diane M. Scalise, who survives.

Mr. Gardner was a 1966 graduate of the former Limestone (N.Y.) High School; while in school he lettered in six-man football. He was the owner of the Pizza Village restaurant in Avon, N.Y., for more than 20 years, retiring in 2005.

He enjoyed spending his free time cruising around in his antique car, taking care of his flower garden in the summer and especially enjoyed meeting new people.

Surviving, in addition to his wife of 38 years, Diane M. Gardner; are one son, Darold S. Gardner of Rochester, N.Y.; two daughters, Jill M. Gardner of Rochester and Pam M. Gardner of Caledonia; mother-in-law, Geraldine Grego of Bradford; sister-in-law, Judy Gates of Bradford; and one niece and one nephew.

Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Mascho Funeral Home Inc. At the family's request, there will be no funeral services. Burial will be in St. Patrick's Catholic Cemetery, Limestone.
