YOUNGSVILLE - Thelma R. Sheehan, 78, passed away Tuesday (Dec. 9, 2014) after a brief illness.
The Guest Book is expired.
Born Nov. 9, 1936 in Marble, she was a daughter of the late Lawrence and Georgia Strotman Martin. She graduated in 1954 from St. Bernard School in Bradford, and in 1956 from Rochester Business Institute. She was a secretary at McDonnell Douglas in St. Louis before returning to Bradford where she worked at Corning Glass Works and Zippo Manufacturing.
Thelma had a creative flair which led in her younger years to playing her Baby Grand piano and she also spent countless hours sketching, painting, crocheting and knitting. She had a sharp wit and would give a devilish smile and get a twinkle in her eye when she was enjoying a laugh with someone. Thelma was deeply religious and took great comfort in her Catholic faith.
While living in Kane she was a faithful member of St. Callistus Catholic Church where she made donations for various projects. Her last years were spent as a resident at Rouse Estates where she made many friends.
She is survived by one brother, David Martin of Venus; three sisters, Mary (Charles) Deal of Bessemer City, N.C.; Eileen (Paul) LeFort of Glen Ellyn, Ill. and Martha (Craig) Simmons of Bradford. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her parents and husbands, David Rees and Jack Sheehan, also a sister Rose Anne Martin and brother Joseph Martin.
There will be no visitation. A private Celebration of Life Mass will be held at a later date.
