Victor F. Lagonia Jr., 89, of Emporium, died peacefully at Sweden Valley Manor in Coudersport on Saturday morning (July 28, 2012).

He was born May 31, 1923, in Austin, a son of the late Victor and Mary Cappelano Lagonia. He married the late Lillian Thomas Lagonia.
Mr. Lagonia was a graduate of Austin Area High School. He was a sergeant in the Army Air Force, serving in Africa during World War II.
He played in a pick-up band in the military with a member of Tommy Dorsie's Band. He also played in the Joe Walker Band in Austin and Emporium.
Victor retired from the Pennsylvania Railroad, where he worked for many years. He was a representative of the union of the Pennsylvania Rail Road and was a member of Miller-Raffaele Post 6221 VFW.
He is survived by his loving companion of 20 years, Patricia Campbell of Emporium; a sister, Lucille Colvin of Bethel Park; two stepchildren, Grace Torrey and William Thomas, both of Florida; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Lillian Thomas Lagonia; and two sisters, Katherine Civarella and Florence "Minnie" Leete.
Visitation will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. today at the Barnett Funeral Home, Emporium. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Mark Catholic Church, 235 East Fourth St., Emporium, with the Rev. Paul S. Siebert, pastor, as celebrant. Burial will be in Newton Cemetery, Emporium. A military service will be accorded by the Cameron County Memorial Detail.
