ALLEGANY, N.Y. - Vivian Pritz, formerly of Herman Street in Salamanca, and of Allegany since 1998, entered into eternal rest on Tuesday (June 28, 2016) at the Bradford (Pa.) Manor. She has now been reunited with her beloved husband, Raymond, who passed away Jan. 23, 2003.
Born Aug. 26, 1931, in Olean, she was the daughter of Jerry and Rita Ford LaCavera.
Vivian was a graduate of Olean High School and the Arnot-Ogden Memorial Hospital Nursing School in Elmira. She moved to Salamanca in 1955 and began employment as a registered nurse at the former Salamanca District Hospital and later the former St. Francis Hospital. She also worked at Olean General Hospital and the Cattaraugus County Nursing Home prior to her retirement.
She was a member of St. Bonaventure Church and a former member of Holy Cross Church in Salamanca. She was also a member of the Salamanca District Hospital Retired Personnel, AARP, the See-Saws Square Dance Club in Salamanca and the Penn-NY Promanaders.
She was the beloved "Mom" to four daughters, Laurie (Steve) Lindstrom of Bradford, Lynn (Robert) McAllister of Jacksonville, Arkansas, Colleen Pritz of Sherwood, Arkansas, and Gigi (Randy Deversa) DuPont of Jamestown; eight grandchildren, Heather (Trey) Marra, Nicole (Brian) Chudy, Katy (Jeremy Guthrie) Caswell, Shawn (Jessica) McAllister, Jacob (Abi) McAllister, Andrew DuPont and Abbey (Michael) Terhune; and nine great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her husband, Raymond, whom she married Aug. 20, 1955 at St. Mary of the Angels Church in Olean; and a grandson, Aaron M. DuPont.
Friends are invited to attend a Memorial Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. Saturday in St. Bonaventure Church. The Rev. James Vacco, OFM, pastor, will be the celebrant. Burial will be in St. Bonaventure Cemetery.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home, Olean.
