SMETHPORT - Wally Strabel, 53, of Harmony, formerly of Wexford and Smethport, died Monday morning (March 18, 2013) at Good Samaritan Hospice House in Wexford.
Born in Butler on April 23, 1959, he was the son of Clarence W. and Marlene Kerr Strabel Jr. of Valencia, former long-time residents of Smethport. Wally was a 1977 graduate of Smethport High School and graduated from Grove City College in 1981 with a B.A. in economics.
Wally was most recently the district sales representative for Western Pennsylvania for Black and Decker and DeWalt corporations.
He had attended St. John Lutheran Church in Mars.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by his brother, Cliff Strabel, currently living in Bourges, France.
Friends will be received from 3 to 6 p.m. today at the McDonald-Aeberli Funeral Home Inc., 238 Crowe Ave., Mars. Additional visitation will be held from 3 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Hartle-Tarbox Funeral Home, 2 Bank St., Smethport. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Trinity Lutheran Church, Fulton Street, Smethport, with the Rev. Mark Bringman, pastor of St. John Lutheran Church of Mars, officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery, Smethport.
