William J. O'Donnell Jr., 85, of 71 Oxford St., passed away Saturday (Jan. 12, 2013) at Bradford Regional Medical Center.
Born Feb. 15, 1927, in Kushequa, he was a son of the late William J. O'Donnell Sr. and Marie Schmader O'Donnell. On May 16, 1953, in St. Bernard Church before the Rev. Martin Grady, he married Nancy Luciano O'Donnell, who survives. 
He was a 1945 graduate of Kane High School. On Oct. 24, 1945, he enlisted in the U.S. Army and served at Fort Meade in Maryland. He was honorably discharged on Dec. 3, 1946. 
Mr. O'Donnell worked for Dresser Manufacturing in Bradford for more than 35 years in the sales and purchasing departments and retired in 1987 as the purchasing manager.  
He was a faithful parishioner of St. Francis of Assisi Church since 1955 and was a lector until his recent illness. He was president of the first Parish Advisory Council at St. Francis. He served as a member and officer of the advisory board of the former Bradford Central Christian High School. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus. 
Mr. O'Donnell was a former volunteer at the American Red Cross and until his recent illness, he was an active volunteer at Bradford Regional Medical Center.
In addition to his family and church, his lifetime interests included traveling, photography, biking, skiing and wood working. 
In addition to his wife of 59 years, he is survived by four sons, Kevin J. (Barb) O'Donnell of Bradford, Daniel J. (Kristi) O'Donnell of Keswick, Va., William J. (Patti) O'Donnell of Hopewell Junction, N.Y., and David  J. (Priscilla) O'Donnell of Fulton, Md.; 11 grandchildren, Brian O'Donnell, Kristen Lang, Allison Johnson, Kati Forman, Landon O'Donnell, Tara O'Donnell, Thomas O'Donnell, James O'Donnell, Brittney O'Donnell, Steffani O'Donnell and Gabrielle O'Donnell; four great-grandchildren, Mia Lang, Ashley Lang, Amy Forman and Eli Forman; a sister, Leona Dalton of Kane; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four sisters, Frances Hogan, Theresa Campbell, Rita Loose and Mary Agnes Dana; and three brothers, Joseph, Thomas and Raymond O'Donnell. 
Friends are invited to call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday in the Hollenbeck-Cahill Funeral Homes Inc., East Main Street, where a prayer service will be held at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, followed by a 10 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial in St. Francis Church with the Rev. Stephen Collins, pastor, as celebrant. Committal services and burial will follow in St. Bernard Cemetery.
