JENSEN BEACH, Fla. - William C. White, 90, died on Saturday (June 8, 2013) at the Veterans Hospital in West Palm Beach.

He was born in Limestone, N.Y., on Sept. 1, 1922, to Joseph and Grace White.
He lived in Bradford, Pa., for many years before moving to Loomis Bay, N.Y., on Chautauqua Lake, and then lived in Jensen Beach for the past 30 years.
Mr. White served in the U.S. Army from 1942 to 1945, was captured at the Battle of the Bulge and was held prisoner for five months in Germany.
He had a lengthy career with Sears, Roebuck & Co., where he retired as a manager of several departments.
He was a life member of the American Legion and served as commander of Post 1286 in Lakewood, N.Y. He attended services at Zion Covenant Church when he lived in Jamestown, Trinity Methodist in Jensen Beach, and Chapel by the Sea on Hutcheson Island. He also attended services while a resident in the long-term care unit of the West Palm Beach VA Medical Center.
He is survived by two daughters, Susan (Bob) Cusimano of Cooper City and Virginia (Dave) Swanson of Jamestown; four grandchildren, Rick and Steve Cusimano, Jeff and Tim Swanson; six great-grandchildren: Olivia, Caroline, Hunter, Tyler, Brandon and Ava; and a sister, Patricia (Ron) Stephens of Vero Beach.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 66 years, Rena Ammons White; by his brother, John White; three sisters, Marion McCartney, Laurel Krise and Mavis Patterson; and a grandson, Kevin Swanson.
At his request, he and his wife will be buried together at the South Florida VA National Cemetery in Lake Worth at 10:30 a.m. June 26, in an honors ceremony performed by the VA.
