Russell E. "Russ" Coy, a loving husband, father and grandpa, 81, formerly of Williams Street, passed away Friday (Feb. 21, 2014) at his residence.

Born July 11, 1932, in Bradford, he was a son of the late Frank L. and Mary E. Jones Coy. On March 29, 1952, in Bradford, he married Janice I. Goldin Coy, who survives him.
Mr. Coy was a 1950 graduate of Bradford High School. He had been self-employed installing carpet for area families and area contractors and formerly worked at Corning Glass.
He was a talented carver and woodworker. He was affectionately called "Popeye."
Surviving, in addition to his wife of 61 years, are two daughters, Becky Gonzalez and Kendra Coy Combs, both of Bradford; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; one sister, Diana Thorpe of Cleveland; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant daughter, Virginia; one son, Russell L. "Larry" Coy, who died July 23, 2002; one brother, Gerald Coy; and two sisters, Laura Jean Burdick and Janet Ethel Baltz.
Family will be receiving friends from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday in the Hollenbeck-Cahill Funeral Homes Inc., South Avenue, where funeral and committal services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday with Pastor Jeremy Childs, pastor of the First Baptist Church, officiating. Military honors will be conducted after the funeral in the funeral home. Burial will be in Willow Dale Cemetery.
