WARREN - Nancy B. Gerbec, 78, of Cole Hill Road, Russell, died Sunday (March 30, 2014) at the Warren Manor following a brief stay.

Nancy was born Feb. 5, 1936, in Bradford, the daughter of the late Howard and Orta Funk Buchanan.
Nancy was a lifelong area resident and a graduate of Warren High School. She was employed by Bell Telephone as an operator, and later at the Blair Corp., retiring after 25 years.
Nancy was a member of the Scandia Covenant Church, attending as her health allowed. Among the things Nancy enjoyed, first and foremost were her family, especially her grandchildren.
She is survived by three sons, Dale (Brenda) Gerbec of Auburn, Ala., and Dan (Rexa) Gerbec and Don (Faith) Gerbec, all of Russell; one brother, Howard (Doris) Buchanan of Russell; 10 grandchildren, Joshua, Bradley, Danielle, Ryan, Shane, Zachary and Brent Gerbec, Lacey, Cody and Megan Rivett; one great-granddaughter, Cailyn Gerbec, and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Nancy was preceded in death on July 8, 2009, by her husband, Rudolph E. "Rudy" Gerbec, whom she married on Feb. 22, 1958 in Falconer, N.Y.; one sister, Norma Buchanan; and one brother, Roy Buchanan.
Friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Peterson-Blick Funeral Home Inc., 1003 Penn Ave., E., Warren. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Scandia Covenant Church with the Rev. Jon Meyer officiating. A private burial will follow in Scandia Cemetery.
