DUKE CENTER - Doris M. Larson of Duke Center passed away Monday afternoon (June 9, 2014) in The Pavilion at BRMC following a brief illness.
Born June 28, 1935, in Smethport, she was the daughter of Raymond J. and Alena Abbey Larson of Eldred.
Following graduation from Otto Township High School, Duke Center in 1953, she went to work in the offices of the former W.T. Grant Co. on North Union Street in Olean until it closed in 1975. Shortly after that, she was briefly employed in the county treasurer office at the McKean County Courthouse in Smethport until she went to work in the offices of Sena-Kean Manor in Smethport, where she was employed until her retirement in 2002.
She enjoyed attending stock car races at the local tracks, was a fan of NASCAR, enjoyed caring for her dogs, "Peaches" and "Bear," as well as reading, watching TV and caring for her home.
She is survived by her brother, Roger L. (Jane) Larson of Duke Center; a nephew, John A. Larson of Duke Center; two aunts, Olive Eckstrom of Smethport and Doris Abbey of Coudersport; and several cousins.
She was predeceased by her father in 1966; her mother in 1991; and a special friend, John Edeen of Mount Jewett in 1983.
Per her wishes, there will be no visitation or funeral service.
