BUFFALO, N.Y. - Roger K. Kohler, 64, formerly of Smethport, Pa., passed away Sunday (June 8, 2014) in Schofield Nursing Home in Tonawanda after a long, courageous battle with cancer.
Born in Buffalo on July 18, 1949, he was the son of Earl and the late Virginia Vickers Kohler. He was the beloved husband of Donna, who survives.
He was a 1967 graduate of Smethport Area High School and 1970 graduate of Thiel College. He also served two years in the U.S. Army. Prior to his retirement, he was employed by the Social Security Administration in Batavia.
Surviving are two daughters, Janell Kohler and Kelly (William) Glassner; three grandchildren, William Glassner Jr., Jacob Glassner and Aubrey Kohler; two brothers, William (Sharon) of Smethport and Dennis (Lois) of Charleston, W.Va.; one sister, Melanie (Mike) Durkee of Smethport; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 3 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the C. Mertz and Son Funeral Home Inc., 911 Englewood Ave., Tonawanda, where funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday.
