ST. MARYS - Arthur J. Heary Jr., 77, of St. Marys, died on Tuesday (July 1, 2014) at Penn Highlands Elk in St. Marys following a brief illness.
He was born on May 27, 1937, a son of the late Arthur Heary Sr. and Clara Arnold Heary.
Art was a life-long resident of the area and a graduate of Central High School, Class of 1955. He also attended St. Bonaventure. Together with his family, he was part owner and operator of Art Heary & Sons Furniture, where he was active in the business with sales and flooring until his retirement last year. 
He enjoyed fishing and going to camp, and greatly enjoyed sports, especially baseball. Art will be remembered for his dedication to the community and for always being willing to help others. Art had been a member of the Rotary Club for more than 50 years and was also active in St. Vincent DePaul.
Mr. Heary is survived by a sister, Mary Jo Heary; a brother, James "Mouse" (Helen) Heary, all of St. Marys; three nephews, James (Anne Marie) Heary Jr. of St. Marys, Thomas (Julie) Heary of St. Marys, and John Heary of Williamstown, N.J. He is also survived by his great-nieces and nephews, Marissa, Ryan, Sarah, Clara and Dominic.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, George "Chicken" Heary.
There will be no visitation. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at noon Thursday at St. Marys Church. Interment will be in St. Marys Catholic Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Marys Church; Elk County Catholic School System; or to St. Vincent DePaul.
