JOHNSONBURG - Batiste T. "Kack" Franco, 85, of 6478 Ridgway-Johnsonburg Road, Johnsonburg, died Sunday morning (July 13, 2014) at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital, Pittsburgh, following a brief illness.
On Oct. 31, 1950, in Holy Rosary Church, Johnsonburg, he married Stephana C. "Steffie" LaFarr; she survives.
He was a Korean War vet. After graduating from the Army Cook School he served overseas as sergeant first class with Battery "A" 424th Field Artillery Battalion, U.S. Army.
Surviving, in addition to his wife at home, are three sons and two daughters, Larry (Susie) Franco, Donald (Ann) Franco and Bob (Diane) Franco, all of Johnsonburg, Debbie (Francis) Addeo of Johnsonburg and Fran (Tate) Miller of Ridgway; grandchildren, Christopher Miller, Carey, Mrs. John P. MacDonald, Crista, Mrs. Cristofer Lombardo, Jamie, Mrs. Scott Shaffer, Kelly Addeo, Corey and Jessica Franco, Brian, Shara and Michelle Franco and Benjamin Franco and his wife Amber and Cheryl Franco; great-grandchildren, Max and McKenzie Miller, Olivia, Lucia and Mia Lombardo, Leo, Mary and Raphael MacDonald, Dominic Shaffer and Ella Franco.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Anthony F. Ferragine Funeral Home, 401 Chestnut St., Johnsonburg. A Mass of Christian Burial will be said at 10 a.m. Thursday at Holy Rosary Church with the Rev. David J. Wilson, pastor, as celebrant. Interment will be in Holy Rosary Cemetery, Johnsonburg.
Military honors will be accorded by the Johnsonburg-Wilcox Servicemen's Detail. Detail members are asked to assemble at the funeral home at 9:15 a.m. Thursday.
