Robert Edward Anderson, 57, of Smethport, died Saturday (Nov. 10, 2012) in Bradford Regional Medical Center, Bradford.

He was born Jan. 5, 1955, in Port Allegany, a son of Robert Elwood and Betty Lou Button Anderson.
Mr. Anderson was a 1972 graduate of Smethport High School and a 1977 graduate of Mansfield Teachers College. Mr. Anderson was a teacher, employed by the Smethport School District for 32 years retiring in 2011.
He was an avid Buffalo Bills Fan, and an 18-year member of the Sons of the American Legion, Post 138 of Smethport, and former assistant track coach for Smethport High School. He helped put American flags on veterans' graves for Memorial Day and was a counselor for the 6th grade Outdoor Education Classes.
He is survived by one brother, Randall (Susan) J. Anderson of Smethport; long-time companion, Karen Benjamin of Smethport; one nephew, Jason Anderson; and stepgrandchildren, Shylee, Nicholas, Steven, Michaelee, Zacharias, Brandon, Jasmine, and Jacob.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Honoring his request, there will be no visitation or funeral services.
