JOHNSONBURG - Nellie H. Nitsche, 97, of the Elk Haven Nursing Home, St. Marys, formerly of Wilcox, died Wednesday afternoon (April 3, 2013) at Elk Haven Nursing Home following a lengthy illness.

Mrs. Nitsche was born on Oct. 15, 1915, in Brookston, the daughter of Thomas and Josephine Szaidek Wantuck. She married Frank J. Nitsche on Nov. 23, 1938, in Holy Cross Church, Rasselas. He died July 16, 2003.
She resided in Wilcox most of her life. She had lived at Silver Creek terrace for five years. She graduated from Wilcox High School in 1933. She was a member of St. Anne Catholic Church, Wilcox, the Catholic Women's Club, the Wilcox American Legion Post 467 Women's Auxiliary, AARP and Jones Township Senior Center.
She is survived by numerous nieces and nephews. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
She was predeceased by her parents; husband; sisters, Catherine Preshak, Mary Bendick and Helen Gorske; and brothers, John and Anthony Wantuck.
There will be no visitation. A private funeral service will be conducted Friday at the Anthony F. Ferragine Funeral Home, Johnsonburg. Officiating will be the Rev. David J. Wilson, pastor of St. Anne Church, Wilcox. Interment will be in Holy Cross Cemetery, Rasselas.
