Janet L. DiFonzo, 73, of 154 Henderson Road, Lewis Run, passed away Monday (April 15, 2013) at her residence.

Born on Sept. 19, 1939, in Bradford, she was a daughter of the late Thomas A. and Freda Henderson. On Aug. 15, 1959, in Our Mother of Perpetual Help Church in Lewis Run, she married Albert DiFonzo, who survives.

She attended schools in the Bradford area and in Tonawanda, N.Y.

Mrs. DiFonzo was a homemaker and worked in various retail establishments in North Tonawanda, Naples, Fla., St. Marys, Sayre and Corry. She retired in 1993 as a department manager for Fisher's Big Wheel in Corry.

Janet was an avid golfer and former member of Pine Acres and Smethport Country Club. She enjoyed collecting house accessories, tending to her landscaping, walking in the woods with her dog and sister and reading. She especially liked moving back to the Bradford area after retirement to be closer to family as a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

Surviving are three sons, John DiFonzo and Bud DiFonzo of Lewis Run and Brian (Tina) DiFonzo of Titusville; grandchildren, Jennifer (Michael) Douglas and Angela DiFonzo; great-grandchildren, Michael Douglas and Kendra Douglas; one sister, Marjorie (John) Knox of Lewis Run; three brothers, Thomas A. (Sharon) Henderson III of Tonawanda, James C. (Barbara) Henderson of Lewis Run and Charles W. Henderson of Wheatfield, N.Y.; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter in infancy and sisters, Delores L. Wasson, T. Jane Coskey and Virginia Henderson.

Family will be receiving friends from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday in the Hollenbeck-Cahill Funeral Homes Inc., 33 South Ave., where funeral and committal services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday with the Rev. Steven Collins, pastor of Our Mother of Perpetual Help, officiating. Committal services and entombment will be in St. Bernard Mausoleum.
