Carol J. Bennett, 73, of 54 Hobson Place, Bradford, passed away Tuesday (April 16, 2013) at Bradford Regional Medical Center.
Born on Nov. 7, 1939, in Bradford, she was a daughter of the late Carl and Thelma Johnson Winkie. After their death in 1955, she was raised by Paul and Mary Jane Hughes. On Sept. 8, 1962, in Bradford, she married Milo F. Bennett Jr., who died on Sept. 5, 2010.
She was a 1957 graduate of Bradford High School.
After graduation, she worked at Olsen's Department Store, Corning Glass and retired from Bradford Electronics after more than 40 years. In retirement, she worked as a bartender at American Legion Post #108.
She was a member and first vice president of Legion Auxiliary Post 108 and a member of VFW Auxiliary #212.
Carol loved spending time with her children and grandchildren, traveling to the beach and Las Vegas, boating, fishing and camping on the Allegheny Reservoir.
Surviving are two daughters, Jill Bennett of Bradford and Amy Kuhaneck of Greencastle; two sons, David Bennett and Greg Bennett, both of Bradford; seven grandchildren, Brittany Bennett, Kara Bennett, Gretchen Bennett, Carli Bennett, Abby Hushon, Addison Kuhaneck and Avalynn Kuhaneck; one great-grandchild, Dominic Lupold; one sister, Paula Stuart of Bradford; and two brothers, the Rev. Frank W. Hughes of Three Springs, Pa., and Gary Hughes of Hickory, N.C.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.
Family will be receiving friends from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday in the Hollenbeck-Cahill Funeral Homes Inc., South Avenue, where funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday with the Rev. Max Miller, pastor of the Bradford Area Parish, officiating. Committal services will follow at Willow Dale Cemetery.
