Josephine A. "Jo" McCord, 92, formerly of 71 Derrick Road, passed away Sunday (April 21, 2013) at the Bradford Ecumenical Home. Jo was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Born June 30, 1920, in Bradford, she was a daughter of Carl P. and Rose M. Deschler Arnold. She was a 1938 graduate of Bradford High School. On June 3, 1946, she married Harold L. Johnson, who died Feb. 23, 1966. On March 19, 1973, she married Howard L. McCord, who died in 1985.
She was a lifelong member of the Grace Lutheran Church and was a group leader of one of the prayer groups that functioned through the church for many years. She served as a staff member and sat on the board of directors for the McKean County Motor Club for many years. She was also active in the Current Events Club.
Surviving are several nieces and nephews including Arnold Evers, David Sheneman, Peter Evers and Nancy Coder, all of the Bradford area, and others living in the eastern states include Tom Kough of North Tonawanda, N.Y., Peg McBride of Warren, MaryLou Lewis of Youngstown, Ohio, and Dr. Ree Arnold of Clifton, N.J.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two husbands, six sisters, Margaret Crissman, Helen Armstrong, Gertrude Neely, Gladys Evers, Bernice Sheneman and Hazel Slike; and two brothers, Carl Arnold and William Arnold.
At the family's request, there will be no visitation. Friends will be invited to attend a memorial service at the Grace Lutheran Church at a later date and time to be announced. Burial will be in Willow Dale Cemetery. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Hollenbeck-Cahill Funeral Homes Inc.
