Geraldine Grego Obituary

Geraldine Grego, 89, of Bradford, passed away on Tuesday (Jan. 21, 2014) at the Bradford Ecumenical Home.
She was born on March 12, 1924, in Bradford, a daughter of the late John and Carmel Pepe DeSantis.
Mrs. Grego was a 1942 graduate of St. Bernard School. She was employed by various local businesses as a bookkeeper, finally retiring in the 1980's from the former Bradford Tax Keeping.
She was a member of St. Bernard Roman Catholic Church; she was formerly the vice president of the Italian Festival when her brother Louis DeSantis organized it.
Mrs. Grego is survived by two daughters, Diane Gardner of Limestone, N.Y., and Judy Gates of Bradford; one stepson, Jim (Sharon) Marasco of California; one stepdaughter, Mary Bartsch of Arizona; one sister-in-law, Loretta DeSantis of Bradford; two grandsons, Brian Gates of Bradford and Darold Gardner of Rochester, N.Y.; three granddaughters, Dina Gates of Bradford, and Jill Gardner and Pam Gardner, both of Rochester; three stepgrandchildren; four stepgreat-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by three husbands; two brothers; one sister; and two son-in-laws.
Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. today at the Mascho Funeral Home Inc., where a prayer service will be held at 10:15 a.m. Friday, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. in St. Bernard Roman Catholic Church with the Rev. Stephen Collins, pastor of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, as celebrant. Burial will be in St. Bernard Cemetery.
Memorial contributions in her memory can be made to the St. Bernard Church building fund, P.O. Box 2394, Bradford, PA 16701; or St. Bernard School, 450 West Washington St., Bradford, PA 16701.

Dear Judy

Geraldine and I were pen pals as she married one of my favorite people ever Pat Grego, my great uncle. I will always appreciate the letters she took the time to write me especially these last few years. My heart goes out to her family. May she rest in peace and in the Lords Light.
