1945-2014 EAST DUMMERSTON Dennis Lynn, "Denny" Waterman, 68 of US Route 5 died unexpectedly Sunday afternoon, February 16, 2014 at his home. Denny was born in Brattleboro on March 9, 1945 the son of Lyndon and Ethel (Valentine) Waterman. A lifelong resident of the area, he was raised and educated in Dummerston attending Dummerston schools. For the past 30 years he owned and operated New England Stake and Hub as well as a saw mill adjacent to his home. Of his leisure time activities Denny was an ardent outdoorsman who loved to go hunting and fishing and especially enjoyed trips to Alaska. He was known as a "jack of all trades" and could fix or repair just about anything. He also enjoyed tinkering on his Ford tractors. Denny was a longtime and proud member of the National Rifle Association. He was first married to Barbara Ann Kohut who predeceased him. He later married Shirley Lewis on March 24, 1978 at the Putney Community Center. Besides his faithful and loving wife of almost 36 years he leaves one son, Brent Waterman and his wife April of East Dummerston, six daughters, Lisa Waterman of Brattleboro, Yvonne Goddard and husband Alan of East Dummerston, Denise James of Tacoma, WA, Denise Waterman of East Dummerston, Carrie Martin and husband Shane of Westminster West and Erika Waterman of East Dummerston, two brothers, Douglas Waterman of Putney and David Waterman of Paris, TN, and two sisters, Kathy Bickford and Sharon Waterman both of Paris, TN. Additionally he is survived by one aunt, Mildred Dutton of Feeding Hills, MA, eleven grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and cousins. FUNERAL NOTICE: A memorial service in celebration of his life will be conducted Friday at 11:00 A.M. at the V.F.W
