James D. Smith

1951-2012 CAMBRIDGEPORT, VT James D. Smith, 61, of Cambridgeport Road died at his home Friday, November 16th.

Mr. Smith was born in Torrington, Conn., on August 26, 1951 the son of Maynard and Irene (Fairbanks) Smith. He attended schools in Saxtons River, Vt., and was a 1969 graduate of Bellows Falls High School. In his younger years he worked for Bills' Farm and Wilson & Lawrence in Grafton, Vt. He worked for Unified Data and lastly for Grafton Village Cheese Company where he retired because of his health. Mr. Smith loved the outdoors including hunting, camping, farming, and attending agricultural fairs. He also loved helping other people.

On June 24, 1972 he married Dianne (Fletcher) Smith who survives. He is also survived by his daughters Tina Wyman of Grafton, Vt., and Tara Taylor of Athens, Vt.; his sister Susan Hill of Pennsylvania; his grandchildren Tyson and Kylee Taylor and Kassidy Wyman; and his aunt Bernice Chamberlin of Brattleboro, Vt.

He is predeceased by his parents.

FUNERAL NOTICE: There will be calling hours 7 to 9 p.m. Monday, November 19th at Fenton & Hennessey Funeral Home in Bellows Falls, VT. There will be a funeral service 1 p.m. Tuesday, November 20th at the Community Christian Church in Athens, VT with the burial to follow in the Cambridgeport Cemetery.
