Luther C. Porter

1937 - 2014 HINSDALE, N.H. Luther C. Porter, 77, of Pierce Road, died unexpectedly Wednesday, June 18, 2014, at his home, following a period of declining health. Mr. Porter was born in Burlington on Feb. 7, 1937, the son of Hollis and Ilene (Curler) Porter. He was raised and educated in Richmond, graduating from the former Richmond High School, Class of 1955. He went on to attend and graduate from the University of Vermont in 1959. Soon after graduation, he became employed as an Internal Revenue Service Agent for the Internal Revenue Service, working in Brattleboro, Montpelier, and St. Johnsbury. Mr. Porter retired on Jan. 1, 2000, following 41 faithful years of service with the IRS. Of his leisure time activities he enjoyed fishing and bowling. He enjoyed watching spectator sports on television and was an avid Boston Red Sox, Bruins, Celtics and New England Patriots fan. On Nov. 4, 1989, in Hinsdale, he was married to Virginia Rider who predeceased him on May 16, 2010. He was predeceased by two other wives, Lorraine Skrypek and Veronica McCarthy. Survivors include three step-sons, David, Donald and Daniel Pierce, all of Hinsdale; one step-daughter, Denise Garcia of Phoenix, Ariz., and step-granddaughters, Christine and Rebecca Pierce, and their children, and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a step-son, Duane Pierce. FUNERAL NOTICE: In accordance with Mr. Porter's final wishes, there are no formal funeral services scheduled. He will be laid to rest at a future date next to his wife, Virginia, in Riverview Cemetery in Richmond.
