Mary Frances Duggan
1959 - 2014 BRATTLEBORO Mary Frances "Fran" Duggan, 54, of Grove Street, a lifelong resident of town, died early Wednesday afternoon, June 25, 2014, at her home, following a courageous battle with cancer. Fran was born in Brattleboro on June 29, 1959, the daughter of Richard and Mary (Mack) Duggan. She attended Saint Michael's Parochial School and was a graduate of Brattleboro Union High School, Class of 1977. Since December of 1991, Fran served as parish administrative assistant for Saint Michael's Roman Catholic Church and sexton for Saint Michael's Cemetery. For many years she also served as the administrator of the St. Vincent DePaul Society. Previously, she had been employed for 14 years at the Windham Regional Planning and Development Commission. On a part-time basis, every tax season Fran worked for Business and Tax Consultants of Brattleboro. Active civically, she assisted every year with the Reformer Christmas Stocking, organized the St. Michael's team for the Relay for Life Walk and participated in the Annual AIDS Walk. Fran was well known for her spirit of friendship and generosity. A devout Catholic, her life centered around her church and her family. Fran was also very proud of her Irish Heritage. On Dec. 28, 1991, at Saint Michael's Catholic Church, she was married to Brett Perry who survives. Besides her husband of 22 years, she leaves one sister, Karen Duggan, and her husband, Moss Kahler, and their son, Jeffrey, of Brattleboro; one brother, Timothy Duggan, and his wife, Cheryl, of Brattleboro; her special friend, Mark Whitaker, of Dummerston; several cousins, a large host of friends, and her extended church family. FUNERAL NOTICE: Calling hours will be held at Saint Michael's Church, 48 Walnut Street on Monday from 6 to 9 p.m. The Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Saint Michael's Church with Fr. James Dodson, pastor, as celebrant. Committal Rites and burial will be in Saint Michael's Parish Cemetery. A reception will be held following the burial in Rand Hall, Saint Michael's School.
