Olympia "Lee" Nunziata

Olympia "Lee" Nunziata (nee Scobbo), 91, a lifelong resident of Port Washington and parishioner of Saint Peter of Alcantara RC Church, passed peacefully into eternal life, surrounded by her loving family, on November 30, 2013. A devoted wife and mother, she was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, John; her parents, Frank and Jenny Scobbo and Teresa Scobbo; brothers, Nick and Jimmy Scobbo. She is survived by her children Sandra, John (Christine), Thomas (Gail), Peter (Sara), and Paul (Karen); 10 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; her sister, Marie Hahn; her brother, Frank Scobbo (Phyllis); and many loving nieces and nephews. She was a woman of sterling character and strong Christian faith who lived a noble life. Her life can be summed up in the words of Saint Francis of Assisi who said, "Preach the gospel always, and when necessary use words." The family will receive visitors at AUSTIN F. KNOWLES, INC. FUNERAL HOME, 128 Main St., Port Washington, N.Y. on Tuesday, December 3, from 7 to 9 p.m. and on Wednesday, December 4 from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 7 to 9 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, December 5, 2013 at Saint Peter of Alcantara RC Church. Interment Nassau Knolls Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in Lee's name to the Franciscan Missionaries of Mary, Saint Francis Convent, 100 Port Washington Blvd., Roslyn, NY 11576 will be greatly appreciated.
