Ralph J. Momaney
1934-2012 Ralph J. Momaney, 78 of Brattleboro, Vt., died on December 6, 2012, at home surrounded by his loving family.
Born March 11, 1934, in Brattleboro, he was the son of Dolph and Edna (Cloutier) Momaney. He graduated from Brattleboro Union High School in 1953, he then joined the Army
. After completing his time in the Army he attended Lyndon Teacher's College in Lyndon Center, Vermont where friendships were made that remain as strong today as they were then. Graduating in 1960, he began his teaching career in Whitingham, Vermont where he met and married his wife, Cyrena J. (Cripps) Momaney on April 22, 1961. They moved to Ledyard, Conn., where he taught in the Town of Groton until 1969 when they moved back to Brattleboro. He taught at Brattleboro Junior High School from that point until his retirement in 1998. As well as his love of teaching, he also enjoyed coaching Freshman Football with Butch Lapan from 1969 to 1979. He also coached Freshman Baseball. He was a coach and mentor to many youth in the area.
A loving and devoted father, grandfather and great-grandfather he thoroughly enjoyed spending as much time as possible with his entire family. He looked forward to attending his grandchildren and great-grandchildren's sports events. He also enjoyed watching his son's racing pigeons, which gave him fond memories of growing up in Fort Dummer.
He is survived by his three children, Brian D. Momaney along with his wife, Janice of Brattleboro; Michelle M. Momaney and Adam Hogenmiller of Westmoreland, N.H.; and James F. Momaney and Laurie Goodrich of Westmoreland, N.H. He leaves eight grandchildren, Matthew and Jacob Momaney of Brattleboro; Lyndsay, Cassie, RJ and Jessie Barry of Hinsdale, N.H.; and Eliza and Nickolas Momaney of Westminster, Vt.; and five great-grandchildren, Daniel, Trace and Rya Tetreault and Caleb and Trenton Barry, all of Hinsdale, N.H. He is also survived by his two brothers, Richard Momaney, and his wife, Mildred of Brattleboro; and Walter Momaney, Sr., and his wife, Marilyn of Windsor, Vt.
He was predeceased by his wife, Cyrena, his parents, Dolph and Edna, his brothers and sister, Clifford, Rita Woodman, Edmund, Francis.

FUNERAL NOTICE: Per their wishes, a celebration of life will be held for Ralph and Cyrena together at the American Legion on Saturday, January 19, 2013, from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. A family burial will be held at a later date.
