Stephen Frechette Obituary

Stephen Frechette

1925 - 2013 WEST SPRINGFIELD, MASS. Stephen L. Frechette, 88, of Prospect Avenue, left us peacefully on June 14, 2013, with his family at his side, at the Knollwood Nursing Center in Worcester.

He was born in Bridgewater, Vt., on April 5, 1925, the son of Edward and Hazel (Rahue) Frechette. He lived in West Springfield for most of his life.

He was employed as a logistics planning specialist for the U.S. Postal Service for 28 years. He retired in 1980 and was happy to say he was retired longer than he worked.

Stephen was an Army veteran of World War II, serving in both the European and Pacific Theatres.

He enjoyed spending time with his family, skiing, golfing, picnicking, exploring back roads and the summer camp in Savoy.

Stephen was the beloved widower of Alice (Urko) Frechette to whom he was married 59 years.

He was the loving father of Jeffrey of Chesterfield; Lisa and her husband, Thomas Sutter, of Holden, and Melanie and her husband, John Glynn, of Sterling; brother of Joyce LaFlam, and Poppy of Kerstin and Mackenzie Sutter. He also leaves many nieces and nephews.

Stephen was predeceased by three siblings, Kenneth, Paul, and Kathryn Taggart.

FUNERAL NOTICE: A memorial service will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at the TOOMEY-O'BRIEN FUNERAL HOME, 1043 Westfield Street, West Springfield, followed by a Committal Service at 12 noon at the Massachusetts Veterans' Memorial Cemetery in Agawam.
