Timothy Stinson Obituary

Timothy A Stinson, 60, passed away Feb. 7, 2014, while vacationing in Guadalajara, Mexico.
He was born in Greenfield, Mass., Oct. 15, 1953, son of the late Frederick and Louise (Koziarz) Stinson.
Tim's passion was aviation. He was a graduate of Emery School of Aviation, attaining his commercial and multi-engine pilot's license in 1975.
Some of the companies he flew for included, Precision Airlines, Frank W. Whitcomb, and Shepherd Intelligence/Jet Securities.
He joined the F.A.A. in 1982, and worked for many years as an air traffic controller at Boston Center. After retirement from the F.A.A., he enjoyed working for Lockheed Martin, setting up heightened airport security systems and practices across the East Coast.
He was a member of A.O.P.A. (Aircraft Owners and Pilots Assoc.), E.A.A. (Experimental Aircraft Assoc.), U.S.P.A. (United States Parachute Assoc.), and A.M.A. (American Motorcycle Assoc.).
Besides his passion for aviation, Tim thrived on adventure. He began skydiving in the early 1970's in Orange, Mass., and logged more than 1,000 jumps through the years. Tim was an avid fisherman and skier and he loved to travel. He drove his motorcycle from Vermont to Alaska, in 2009, and this winter, through Mexico. One of his favorite places was Costa Rica where he owned property and spent many winters. He also owned his own airplane and loved spending his free time flying.
Tim's main source of happiness, though, came from his children. He loved spending time, quiet and adventurous, with each of them. They were blessed with much love, laughter, and happy times. Tim was especially overjoyed with getting to know his young granddaughter since she moved back home from Alaska. He absolutely adored her.
Tim leaves behind his loving children, Kimberly Stinson, of Vermont, Timothy Stinson, II, of Brattleboro; his granddaughter, Elizabeth Piper Stinson, of Vermont; his brother, Robert Stinson and his wife, Judith, of Haydenville, Mass., and his nephew and niece, Jonah and Callie Stinson.
Tim is predeceased by his brother, Ronald Stinson.
FUNERAL NOTICE: Arrangements, assisted by Ker Westerlund Funeral Home, Brattleboro.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date this Spring.

I am saddened to learn of Tim's passing and my thoughts and prayers go out to his family. Tim "convinced" me to try sky diving and was with me when I made my first jump in Orange, MA when I was sixteen years old and I will always be grateful for his encouragement and support.
