1974 - 2016 Wardsboro Kirby Robert "Kirb" Staib, 42, of Gilfeather Road, passed away unexpectedly late Tuesday afternoon, October 18, 2016 in Wardsboro. Kirby was born in Brattleboro on August 11, 1974, the son of Donald and Joan (Cole) Staib. He was raised and educated in Wardsboro and was a graduate of Leland & Gray High School, Class of 1993. Following high school he went to work for Stratton Mountain Ski Area and later became employed as an equipment specialist for the Vermont State Highway Department, based in Jamaica. Kirby was known as a hard worker and in conjunction with his full time employment, he also worked as a general contractor in the Wardsboro area. Kirby enjoyed spectator sports, hunting, fishing and time with his family. He is survived by his parents of Wardsboro, his companion, Laurie Gallagher of Wardsboro, a brother, Lonnie Staib and his wife Laura of Banesberry, TN, several aunts, uncles, two nephews, four nieces and many cousins. Additionally he leaves his two beloved Rottweilers, Tonka and Roxanne. SERVICES: Graveside committal services will be conducted Tuesday at 2:00 p.m. in West Wardsboro Cemetery. A reception will follow the services to be announced at the graveside. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Kirby's name may be made to Wardsboro Volunteer Fire & Rescue, P.O. Box 151, Wardsboro, VT 05355 or Grace Cottage Hospital, P.O. Joan so sorry to hear the loss of Kirby. He was my son Jonathan`s first friend when we moved to Wardsboro in 1980. They were in the same class together. May he rest in peace.

RIP Kirby words can't describe how sadly this is. We have so many memories. You were like a brother to me. I will never forget the many things we did together such as hunting, fishing, boating. RIP brother Co worker hunting partner there is no words that describes the lose of one that has a big heart for his family, pets and friends. One that loved the outdoors and working hard. I truly injoy ed cutting trees with you. We made one hell of a team.
