1924 - 2015 BRATTLEBORO Alberta Ruth Bellville, 91, formerly of Green Street passed away peacefully early Saturday morning, October 31, 2015 at Pine Heights Nursing Home. Mrs. Bellville was born in Putney on September 12, 1924 the daughter of Watson and Kathryn (Kingsbury) Magoon. She was raised and educated in Putney and Brattleboro attending Putney School, Canal Street School and was a graduate of Brattleboro High School, Class of 1943. She had worked most of her career as a switchboard operator employed at the former Windham College, Brattleboro Retreat and for the New England Telephone Company when the offices where located in the Barber Block on Main Street. She also co-owned with her husband Johnny's Drive-In in Hinsdale and Page's Dairy Bar in Brattleboro. In her earlier years she had worked at the former Spaulding's in Brattleboro. With her husband, Ken, she also provided foster care for many local children providing them with a loving and safe home. Steadfast in her walk of faith, Mrs. Bellville was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints where she was active with the church's Relief Society. Mrs. Bellville was a devoted homemaker who enjoyed time spent with her family and enjoyed knitting, crocheting and quilting. On January 27, 1945 in South Mills, N.C. she was married to Kenneth Bellville. Her faithful and devoted husband of 70 years predeceased her on March 18, 2015. Survivors include two sons, Peter Bellville of Galt, CA and Jeffrey Bellville of Brattleboro; two daughters, Jan Bellville of Brattleboro and Lynn McCarty of Acampo, CA; 12 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased in death by two brothers, Albert and Robert Magoon; a daughter, Gail Lamson; and three sisters, Maxine Smith, Virginia Taylor and Anita Stone. FUNERAL NOTICE: Graveside committal services will be conducted on Friday at 1p.m. in the Bellville family lot in Christ Church Cemetery in Algiers.
