"Biggie" Fortier

1989 - 2014 BRATTLEBORO Ashley Eileen "Biggie" Fortier, 24, of West Brattleboro, died unexpectedly Wednesday night, July 16, 2014, at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center with her family by her side. Ashley was born in Brattleboro on Sept. 13, 1989, the daughter of Rick and Kathleen (Lawrence) Fortier. She was raised and educated in Brattleboro and was a graduate of Brattleboro Union High School, Class of 2011. She had been employed on a part-time basis at Against the Grain and had previously worked at the Brattleboro Food Co-Op. Ashley was an active member of Families First and for several years was involved with the New England Youth Theater. Of her leisure time activities, Ashley enjoyed arts and crafts, kayaking, fishing, riding her bike, watching movies at home and spending time with her family. She was a very generous and caring person with a hilarious sense of humor. She was well known for her memorable laugh, smile and love for frogs. Survivors include her parents of Brattleboro; sister, Karley Fortier of Brattleboro; her maternal grandparents, Joseph and Eileen Lawrence, of Brattleboro, and many loving aunts, uncles and cousins. FUNERAL NOTICE: The funeral will be celebrated Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Saint Michael's Roman Catholic Church with Fr. James Dodson, pastor, as celebrant. Committal Rites and burial will follow in Saint Michael's Parish Cemetery. Friends are invited to call at the ATAMANIUK FUNERAL HOME on Monday from 6 to 9 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Ashley's name may be made to Families First, 15 Butterfly Lane, Brattleboro, VT 05301.
