1940 - 2015 CLAREMONT, N.H. Barbara A. Wright Smith, 74, of Claremont, NH passed away on Thursday evening, August 13, 2015 at her home surrounded by her family following a long illness. She was born on August 26, 1940 in Brattleboro, VT the daughter of the late Pasquale Martino, Sr. and Dorothy (Burdo) Martino. Barbara was raised and educated in Brattleboro having graduated high school in 1958. She married Nigle L. Wright on July 2, 1960; they were married for 37 years until his death in 1997. She married Robert Pelton of Claremont in December of 2000 and he died in 2007. Barbara worked for Sullivan County Homemaker Service for nine years and later was employed as a switchboard operator for Claremont Savings Bank until her retirement in 2000. She was a member of the Elks Lodge BPOE #879. On August 15, 2009 she married Kenneth R. Smith of Lebanon. Barbara enjoyed time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She enjoyed reading, knitting, gardening, her TV shows and most of all were the gatherings of the families, many good times were had by all. The family includes her husband, Kenneth R. Smith of Claremont; one son, Jeffrey Nigle Wright and longtime companion, Donna Curtis of Claremont; a daughter, Shari Lynn Theriault and her husband, Steve of Claremont; three grandsons, Bryan N. Wright of Texas, Trey Theriault and Ty Theriault both of Claremont; two granddaughters, Kristin M. Kenniston and her husband, Scott of Claremont and Melissa Haney and her husband, Jeremy of Groton; two step-sons, Kenneth Smith Jr and Douglas Smith; two great-grandchildren, Lauren Noll of Claremont and Sawyer Haney of Groton, three sisters, Karen Golden and her husband, Tom of Brattleboro, VT, Donna Matthews and her husband, Van of Keene, Christine Young and her companion, Nick of Stoddard; two brothers, Michael Martino of CA, Joseph Martino and his wife, Daphne of California; also several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by one brother, Pasquale Martino, Jr. FUNERAL NOTICE: Visiting hours will be held at the Stringer Funeral Home, 146 Broad Street in Claremont on Monday, August 17th, 2015from 2 to 4pm and 6 to 8pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St. Mary Church on Tuesday at 10am with the Rev. Father Shawn M. Therrien, officiating. Interment will follow in Hope Hill Cemetery in Charlestown. A reception will be held at the Claremont Elks lodge on Pleasant Street In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to the Connecticut Valley Home Care/Hospice, 958 John Stark Highway, Newport, NH 03773.
