1936 - 2016 North Walpole, NH Carl Hugh Chaffee, 79, of Kilburn St. died Wednesday, July 6, 2016 at his home surrounded by his family. He was born Dec. 6, 1936 in Westminster, VT, the son of Maurice and Esther (Fish) Chaffee. Carl attended schools in North Walpole, NH and Bellows Falls, VT. Carl served in the United States Air Force. He worked as a diesel mechanic at Quinn Freight Line, Hemmingway and Holmes Transportation. Carl enjoyed fishing and gardening, his black trucks and Kubotas, sports and western movies. His greatest love was his family. Oct. 3, 1958 he married Nancy DiBernardo at St. Charles Church. He is survived by his wife; two sons, Gary and wife, Dawn of Bellows Falls, VT and Gregory and wife, Lorraine of Langdon, NH; a daughter, Carla West and husband Todd of Rockingham, VT; one sister, Penny Clarke of CA; grandchildren, Vanessa Chaffee and Jon Gibbs, Caitlin Chaffee and Tyler Lamglais, Jordan and Dalton Morse, Benjamin and wife Joy Chaffee, Nathan and wife, Amanda Chaffee, Kaylie Chaffee, Rebecca and Josh Stockwell, Jed West and Karen Snyder, Molly West and Greg Hodsdon; six great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Carl was predeceased by his parents, four brothers, Harold, Donald, Leslie and Clifford; two sisters Beatrice Rayt and Esther Bugbee and his great grandson Domonic. FUNERAL NOTICE: A funeral service will be held at the Fenton & Hennessey Funeral Home, Bellows Falls, VT, Monday July 11, 2016 at 2pm. There will be no caling hours. Burial will follow in the Westminster Cemetery. A special thank you goes to Doctor Alex Fuld and Doctor Gregory Froehilch at the Veteran's Hospital, White River, Jct. VT, the Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center, and the Hospice nurses. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions in Carl's memory may be made to either the Veteran's Hospital, White River Jct., VTor the Norris Cotton Cancer Center, One Medical Center Drive, Lebanon, NH 03756.
