She settled permanently in Vermont in 1982. She earned an MA in Counseling Psychology from Antioch University. She sang with the White Shoes, an a capella vocal group. She completed a course in the Gaelic language ahead of a journey to Ireland in 1999. She was a gifted writer and photographer.
