1944 - 2016 SPRINGFIELD, VT Carol Ann Wing, 71, passed away on January 23rd, 2016, following a brief illness. Born in 1944 in Jamaica, NY, to Laurence and Evelyn Wilson, Carol grew up in Rockville Center, NY. Carol graduated from DePauw University in 1966, majoring in education and minoring in music. She later earned a master's degree in education at Adelphi University. Carol moved to Vermont in 1967, where she taught mathematics in the Springfield school system for 30 years, retiring in the late 1990s. Carol was a warm, vibrant person and caring community member. Following her retirement, she played the organ at countless weddings and funerals, volunteered on a variety of area boards, and offered support and guidance to many families and individuals in need. She enjoyed church suppers, playing cards and Scrabble, cross stitch, attending shows, swimming, jigsaw puzzles, going on cruises, and spending time with her many friends. Carol was a devout member of the United Methodist Church in Springfield. She was also a devoted and well loved mother and grandmother. Carol's family and community will miss her vivacious personality and zest for life. Carol leaves behind her son, Michael Becker and his wife, Megan of Brattleboro, VT, her grandsons, Maxwell and Miles, as well as her brother, Roy and his wife, Meg of Lee, NH. She was predeceased by her father, Laurence and her mother, Evelyn. SERVICES: A celebration of Carol's life will be held at the United Methodist Church in Springfield, VT on February 13th, 2016, at 11a.m. For those wishing to do so, memorial donations may be made to the Edgar May Health and Recreation Center Scholarship Fund, 140 Clinton St, Springfield, VT 05156. Davis Memorial Chapel in Springfield is assisting the family with arrangements.
