Celia M. (Benjamin) Crapo

1926 - 2015 WINDSOR LOCKS, CONN Celia M. (Benjamin) Crapo, 89, loving wife of 66 years to the late Glynn A. Crapo, was welcomed into the embracing arms of our Lord and Savior on Wednesday, March 18, at St. Francis Hospital with her family by her side. Celia was born Feb. 14, 1926, in Champlain, N.Y. the daughter of the late Halsey and Eva (Jarvis) Benjamin. She lived in several rural towns in and around Champlain, N.Y. prior to moving to Brattleboro, Vt. at the age of 13. Celia and Glynn met at a Valentine's dance and were married on June 28, 1947, and settled in Windsor Locks in 1955. She was employed with American Optical in Brattleboro and retired from Redington Counters after 20 years. Celia and Glynn bowled in couples leagues for several years, and for seven years they were snowbirds spending the winter months in Florida. She and Glynn were world travelers and went on many wonderful vacations. Celia was a faithful parishioner of St. Robert Church. She enjoyed gardening and loved to read a good book, but family was the center of Celia's life. She is survived by a son, Eric P. Crapo, of Ludlow, Mass.; her daughter, Charlotte A. Plummer, and her husband, David, of Windsor Locks; four grandchildren, Heather Hubertz, Heidi Rubin and her husband, Rob, Matthew Benjamin, and Zachary Plummer; five great-grandchildren, Amber and Carter Beliveau, Emma and Alex Rubin, and Braxton Powell. Celia is also survived by three brothers, David, Clayton, and Gerald Benjamin; two sisters, Nancy Campbell, and Marie Wright. Celia was predeceased by a son, Kevin Crapo; five brothers, Hubert, Eugene, Lawrence, Andrew, and Everett Benjamin; and two sisters, Genevieve Dalrymple, and Ethel Martel. FUNERAL NOTICE: Relatives and friends are welcome to join the family on Saturday, March 28, from 8:30 - 9:30 a.m. at the Windsor Locks Funeral Home, 441 Spring St., Windsor Locks. A funeral procession will form at 9:30 a.m. for a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10 a.m. at St. Robert Bellarmine Church. Burial will follow in St. Mary Cemetery.
