Hinsdale - Charles P. "Chuck" Roy, Jr. 87 of Glen Street, a lifelong resident of Hinsdale died late Wednesday night, February 15, 2017 at Westwood Health Center in Keene following a period of declining health.

Mr. Roy was born in Hinsdale on June 27, 1929 the son of Charles and Helen (Hibbett) Roy. He attended Hinsdale schools and was a graduate of Hinsdale High School, Class of 1947. He went on to attend the New Mode School of Barbering in Manchester, N.H.

After graduating from barber school he apprenticed under his father eventually joining the family business and following his father's passing became owner of Roy's Barber Shop in Hinsdale which he operated faithfully for over 50 years.

Active civically he was a member of the Hinsdale Fire Department for 21 years and held membership in the Hinsdale Sportsman's Club. He was also a lifelong communicant of Saint Joseph's Parish in Hinsdale.

He loved the outdoors and enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening.

On August 7, 1954 at Saint Joseph's Church he was married to Helen Bokum who predeceased him on April 24, 2007.

Survivors include one son, Jon Roy of Hinsdale, a daughter, Janice D'Alessio and her husband Stephen of Keene, a granddaughter, Amanda Cooke and her husband Tyler of Hinsdale, two sisters, Muriel Graveline of Greenfield, Mass and Harriet Beckwith of Stoddard, N.H., and many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by a sister, Sylvia Gleason.

SERVICES: Services will be held in the springtime at a date and time to be announced by the funeral home with interment in Pine Grove Cemetery.
