1935-2016 BRATTLEBORO Cynthia S. Sprague, 80, a resident of Fairview Village died Tuesday evening, February 9, 2016 at Brattleboro Memorial Hospital, surrounded by her family following a lengthy period of declining health. Mrs. Sprague was born in Orleans, Vermont on July 6, 1935 the daughter of Harold "Zeke" and Eliza (Stimpson) Green.She attended Brattleboro area schools and was a graduate of Brattleboro Union High School, Class of 1952. She worked most of her career as a book-keeper employed at the former Montgomery Ward & Co. Store and former Stowell Electric both in Brattleboro. For several years she held membership in the Esteyville Neighborhood Association. Mrs. Sprague was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother and great grandmother who enjoyed spending time with her family and her beloved pet dog "Missy." She also loved vacationing at York Beach, Maine. In November of 1953 at Saint Michael's Roman Catholic Church she was married to Francis "Franny" Sprague who is deceased. Survivors include one daughter, Karen Nadeau of Brattleboro, three sons, Ricky and Mark Sprague both of Hinsdale and David Sprague of Putney, one brother, Richard "Dick" Green of Brattleboro and a sister Mary Harris of Florida. Additionally she leaves 11 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her close friend and companion Joseph Bober. SERVICES: A memorial service will be conducted Wednesday at 11a.m. at the Atamaniuk Funeral Home with Pastor Suzanne Andrews of First Baptist Church officiating. A reception will follow the services to be held at the American Legion Post #5 on Linden Street. Burial in Locust Ridge Cemetery will be in the springtime.
