1947-2016 BRATTLEBORO, VT David Lee "Pit" Pitman, 68 of Lexington Avenue died Thursday morning, February 25, 2016 at Brattleboro Memorial Hospital. Dave was born in Burlington, VT on June 21, 1947 the son of George and Lorraine (Thibault) Pitman. He was raised in the Barre area attending Saint Monica Parochial School in Barre later graduating from Spaulding High School, Class of 1965. He went on to attend Lyndon State College where he earned his B.S. in He had been employed as a dispatcher for Brattleboro Haulage where he retired from, following over 30 faithful years of service with the company. He later worked part-time at the American Legion, Brattleboro Post #5. Dave was a member of the American Legion and the Benevolent & Protective Order of Elks, Brattleboro Lodge #1499. He was a classic and antique car enthusiast and enjoyed attending area car shows. Of his other leisure time activities he enjoyed music and was an accomplished guitar player and pianist and played with the Pitman Brothers Band, formerly of the Barre/Montpelier area. He also loved birds and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. On April 4, 1992 in Berkshire, Vermont he was married to Sandra Tracy who Besides his wife of 23 years he leaves one daughter, Jaimie Douglass of Rockingham, five step-children, Lyman Lawyer, Travis Lawyer, Krishna Valentine, Leah Valentine and Alisha Valentine, one sister, Mary Lou Paquet of CA, five brothers, George Pitman, Jr. of Danville, VT, Michael Pitman and Robert Pitman of CA, James Pitman of Waterbury, VT, and John Pitman of Dover, NH. Additionally he is survived by 14 grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and cousins. FUNERAL SERVICE: The Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday at 1:00 P.M. at Saint Michael's Catholic Church with Rev. James Dodson, pastor, celebrant. A reception will follow the Mass to be held at the American Legion on Linden Street. Memorial contributions to help offset Dave's medical costs may be made to River Valley Credit Union, P.O.
