Doris Elizabeth Eaton

1917-2014 BRATTLEBORO Doris Eaton Trelewicz, 96, passed away on Thursday, March 20, 2014 surrounded by her five daughters at her home in Brattleboro. Doris was born on December 29, 1917 to Albert and Eva (Smith) Eaton in Reading, Mass. She grew up in Hudson, N.H, and graduated from Nashua N.H. High School in 1938. During her school years she worked at Bensons Animal Farm in Hudson. In April of 1939 she married Kent O. MacLean who passed away in July of 1964. Together they raised five devoted daughters who survive, Geraldine (Tommy) Hines, Janice D'Alia, Judith (Gordon) Wisell, Jean (Ben Abel) MacLean, Patricia (Casey) Bozetarnik. Doris retired from the Book Press in 1982. She later married Edward Trelewicz and shortly after their marriage they moved to Florida. During her retirement she spent many years volunteering for the Senior Companion program in Brattleboro and Florida. Upon Ed's death she returned to Brattleboro to live with her daughter and son-in-law, Judith and Gordon Wisell. Doris loved spending time at her daughters store (Avenue Grocery). Doris is survived by a brother, Stanley Eaton and a sister, Marion Fornier. She was predeceased by four siblings, Clifford Eaton, Ruth Mason, Alice Heslin and Helen Eaton. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Antonette Hines, Tammy Hubbard, Stuart Wisell, Rick Wisell, Tim Wisell, Barb Shannon, Richard Houle, Jeffrey Houle and Gregory Montgomery and 12 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews FUNERAL NOTICE: A memorial service will be held at First United Methodist Church (where she was a member for 63 years) on Saturday, March 29 at 1 p.m. The family is grateful for the loving care that was provided by Bayada Hospice, Brattleboro Area Hospice and her granddaughter, Barb Shannon. Donations may be made to the Brattleboro Area Hospice, Hallowell Singers, 191 Canal St. Brattleboro, VT. or the First United Methodist Church, 18 Town Crier Drive, Brattleboro, VT 05301 .
