1958 - 2016 BOULDER, CO. Elizabeth ("Betsey") Crockett Shay, 58, of Boulder, passed away on July 22 after a 19-month battle with glioblastoma (brain cancer). Betsey was born in Dummerston in 1958, graduated from BUHS in 1976 and Wellesley College in 1980. She worked locally in the 1980's at the Experiment in International Living and Cross-Country Skier Magazine. She was a member of the Blanche Moyse Chorale. In 1986 she married Robert Shay in Centre Congregational Church. Subsequently, she lived and worked in the field of non-profit fund-raising in North Carolina, Arkansas, Massachusetts, Missouri and Colorado. She is survived by her husband, Robert Shay, and daughter, Katherine, of Boulder; brother, John Crockett of Westminster; father, Larrimore Crockett and step-mother, Ellen Crockett, of Dummerston. She was pre-deceased by her mother, Shirley Harris Crockett, in 1998. In lieu of flowers, Betsey's family invites contributions to the Betsey Crockett Shay Memorial Scholarship Fund, University of Colorado Boulder College of Music. A memorial service will be held at 2:00p.m., on Saturday, October 8, 2016, at the Church of the Redeemer (Episcopal), 379 Hammond Street, Chestnut Hill, MA 02467. All are welcome. A memorial luncheon gathering will be held locally at 1:00p.m., Monday, October 10th, at Hallelujah Farm Retreat, 48 Bradley Road, Chesterfield, NH 03443. All are invited, but an RSVP is requested.
