Elizabeth Elledge Grobey Obituary
Elizabeth Elledge Grobey, age 66, passed away peacefully in the early morning hours of Labor Day, September 4, 2017, at Thompson House in Brattleboro. Elizabeth ("Betsy") was born in Bellows Falls, VT, on March 29th, 1951, and was the daughter of the late John and Kathryn Shepard. She attended Stoneleigh Burnham School and later enrolled in The Academy for Dramatic Arts in New York City. Drama - especially the stage - was one of her life's passions and a God-given gift.

Another of Elizabeth's great passions was for her children and family. She is survived by her son, Daniel Wolf Shepard; her daughter, Azora Brooke Nichols; her identical twin sister, Brooke ("Judy") Shepard; her sister, Nancy Kovaleff; her brother, John Shepard; her seven beloved nieces and nephews; and her grand-niece, Clara.

Over the course of her life, Elizabeth made homes in many interesting and unusual places, including New York City, St. Thomas (USVI), Nova Scotia, Martha's Vineyard, and beyond. Elizabeth's impeccable taste in both people and things was undeniable. She had an easy, Bohemian sensibility which seeped into each, meticulously decorated space she occupied.

She was forever surrounded by beauty - Elizabeth, herself, was a naturally stunning woman. As someone who knew her well, I would call our mother a true Flower Child. Above all things, she valued love, peace, beauty, and community. She will be missed by everyone she touched with her generous and free spirit. Elizabeth leaves this world in the light and protection of her Lord, Jesus Christ.

SERVICES: Elizabeth's ashes will be scattered at her family home in Saxtons River, VT. A memorial service for EEG will be held on a future date (TBD).

In honor of their unwavering dedication to compassionate, end-of-life care, donations in her memory may be made in the form of a check to The Thompson House, 80 Maple Street, Brattleboro, VT 05301.
